Long ago I mentioned how I was practicing a bulk blog posting strategy utilizing the features of Posterous. But I wasn’t a big fan of the signature link they placed on every post, everywhere and that they don’t past the SEO love in return. (profiles)

I’m writing this post in Windows Live Writer. So far it looks like I can write a post offline through Windows Live software and post it to any blogs I’ve entered in my account. I also added ScribeFire to my FireFox Addons. It looks it that does the same. We’ll just playing around for now. If this test works, you should be able to find this blog post at my

Windows Live Writer is a Desktop Blog Posting Application. Just make sure your don’t download all that extra software you don’t need.

Windows Live Writer is great, because you can attach documents to posts, add plugins, sync it with Windows Live Social, set publishing for later & much, much more. And since its a software with a WSYWIG editor for multiple blogs, it has hidden options that usually pertain to other blogs, that you could apply to the one you are using.

Kate Sessions Park in San Diego, CA

About 4 or 5 days of the week, my girlfriend and I take our little french bulldogs to Kate Sessions Park. We just let them loose and they run around with the biggest smiles on their faces. The park is actually not a leash free park, but if you go after 5/5:30 (after the rangers have left) you can let your dog loose to play with all the other dogs.

SEO Footer Links at the Bottom of My Blog

Right now I'm acting a little insane, creating web site after website. After discovering easier ways to get to the top of the SERP's, I decided to put what I know to the test and created about 10 websites targeting the toughest terms. I have no real plan for these rankings so this high-targeted-keyword campaign may not last long.

So to be honest with all my readers, I'm only keeping this blog up because I created in 2005 and it seems that Google recognizes all of its outbound links. I was talking about SEO then and I'll continue to talk about SEO now. I may even start posting more since it seems like every time I create a post, every page I'm linking to gets another backlink, FAST!

It's funny how much I've learned since 2004/2005. But it's also funny to see how much I've always known.

I've always known that the more keyword rich links I get pointing to me, the better my rankings will be. But over time you learn which links count and how links are evaluated.

My footer links: At the bottom of this blog, I have footer links that link to web 2.0 profiles created. I bookmarked many of my SEO pages in these profiles, that's why I labeled the links the way I did. But those links wont count for anything if Google can't find them or if no one else finds that page your link is on interesting.

So with this aged sub-domain (within blogger) that seems to somewhat have a little trust, I linked to my profiles linking to my other pages. This is a mild form of link tunneling. It helps Google find my links and it also helps verify my links. The real question is how much does it take to finally show up here? I'm GUESSING either

Certain amount of times the bots passes through a link to that page.
Certain amount of links it must past through to find that page.
Certain length of time from the first time Google found it.

Like I said I'm guessing.

Social SEO - A Few New Web 2.0 SEO Profiles

I spent a couple hours the other day going though a list of web 2.0 sites I've been meaning to check out. I went through the whole registering process and filled out as many sections as possible in order the test the full possibilities of these social networks. The main things I recorded were; do I get a link and if so is it redirected or no followed? How many members are their? What's the site's Alexa rank and Page Rank? And what types of media can I upload? If I found a social network that met my criteria, I marked it as a website I will spend more time enjoying and making the best of socially and SEO organically.

Here are a fraction of the social networks I just recently joined and plan to heavly get involved in.

Boomer411.com - This is a social networking site for baby boomers. Very active site with a growing amount of visitors joining everyday. I liked that I was able to have my own profile and bookmark sites that others submitted. Here's My SEO by the Hour Profile on Boomer411.

Blip.tv - If you have any videos, join Blip.tv. This site does a great job at making you feel like you have your own tv show on a tv channel with a faithful group of viewers. I started it with my Flickr SEO Video. I just like the fill of this site. Very fun, yet professional.

BuddyMarks.com - This is kinda like Delicious, but with less traffic and not as advanced. It's a personal bookmarking page. That's it! But, one thing it does have is followed links, unlike Delicious. And to me, this is muy bueno.

Dealigg.com - If you are an affiliate marketer that knows how to work redirects, doorways and/or link cloaking, this site could be one of your favorite sites to visit. Or, if you are someone that likes to find a bargain, this site puts a twist on classifieds and discount purchasing by adding a social aspect to it. They gave me a unique profile page that can be indexed by the engines. My SEO Profile Page on Dealigg.

Eyespot.com - I like this site all around. It's very fun to me because it allows me to upload all my media in one place and let's my friends comment and or tag them. Beside that, I get to create my own blog. To me, it's a cleaner MySpace which I plan on user a lot more of in the VERY near future.

Furl.net - Another Digg, Delicious, Magnolia etc. The difference is the whole layout and how they catergorize your bookmarks. It sets it up in archives making it easier to retrieve past bookmarks. As long as you can remember the day, month, week or year you bookmarked a site, you will have no problem finding old bookmarks.

Like I said, this was just a few profiles I've created and I have many more to go. Just remember to ask yourself one question once you create your profile. Now that I have a profile, how do I get Google to recognize it?

10 Steps to Top Google's Local Business Results

Recently, I noticed that a couple sites I do SEO for start to show up in Google's local business listings on the 1st page of Google's search results. These listings are prime positions not only because they rank higher than the number one organic search listings, they also show your geographic location and phone number on the actual SERP. Potential customers can see your listing and business info before they even have to stroll down.

I'm real excited about these listings because the website owners' excitement has brushed off on me.

Not too long ago I asked on this blog how to achieve local business listings on Google. No one responded or even sent me a link. But, here are 10 things you can do to better your chances at these top positions.

Create a Google Local Business Listing Here.
Add keywords you are targeting to your profile.
Get customers to give you reviews and to write you good ratings.
Link to that profile from your web site.
Make sure your URL in listed.
Phone number should be a local number. *important
Get some back links to that profile.
Make sure physical address and city and zip on your website.
List all towns you cover somewhere in your site.
Make sure every section is filled. Even pictures, videos and specials... Everything!

I went way deeper into this in my other (SEO) blog if you want to understand this a little better. But, pretty much just treat that page as regular web site and SEO the heck out of it!

MojoPages, San Diego & SEO... Well, Almost SEO

Just today I was reminded by an email of this site called MojoPages.com. It's a great site with an awesome idea. The owner pretty much explains it as Youtube meets the Yellow Pages.

Mojo Pages is a social networking Yellow Pages. Businesses can get listed by happy or dissapointed users and everyone can put their '2 cent' in about that company/business. To top it off, you can make friends with others in your city/area and share opinions you may have about different establishments in your town.

Being a SEO in San Diego and working on websites here in San Diego, I thought this might be a good chance to add a couple local San Diego businesses to the site. Afterall, I pretty much do this with typical web 2.0 bookmarking sites & regular yellow pages and directories.

But, before I put much time into anything like this, I normally check for nofollows

As you can see any link added to this site will not get followed by the robots. The page is indexed, so Mojo Pages with definitely have (your) content. But your links wont get indexed. But, this is only a problem when it comes to SEO and PageRank. Any place to add content about your business for free is a good place to start. The site's Alexa rank isn't bad, so it couldn't hurt to add your local company to the website. Plus, even though bots don't follow links and index them, that doesn't mean they can't read them and associate the 2 pages (linker and linkee).

TIP 5: SEO & Tags

Tags are very important when it comes to SEO and the web 2.0 world. Tags are labels web users give web pages, pictures, posts, etc. They represent community anchor text votes.

So when submitting sites, posting blogs or uploading pictures, make sure when tagging it, you tag it with the keywords you use in your metas and with the most popular tags people search for on that particular site.

This step focuses on making sure your site is listed under your targeted tags;

If you Google the terms "design" "tags", "graphic design" "tags" or graphicdesign "tags"

This will bring sites with the most relevant lists of websites tagged with graphic design. Add your website and tag it with your keywords and make sure everyone is aware your site is online and that your site deserves to be tagged "graph design" also. Many times these popular tagged-named pages on large web 2.0 sites will show up in the rankings without typing in "tag" or "tags".

Well, this finishes off Google's 4th bullet

"Make sure all the sites that should know about your pages are aware your site in online."

Just remember one thing, when you have a legit relevant site that people in your field will enjoy, it's only right that you let all of them know you are there for them. Right???

Flickr is SEOable - A Search Engine Optimized Profile

Today I want to show y'all how to optimize a Flickr account. I'll simply show you how to apply basic SEO Techniques to your Flickr account.

First and foremost, Flickr is a Photo account provided by Yahoo! that allows you to create your own photo galleries and sets. So remember, to use this technique, you must have pictures.

Now, when you create a Flickr account, you are given a profile page with your own url within the flickr domain. In other words, Flickr is giving you a page to optimize anyway you please within their website.

So here we go.

When you first start a profile, you are given the option to choose a username. Pick one with your targeted keywords in the the name, for this will be your unique part of your url address.

For example; If you want to rank high for the term 'san diego law firm', pick a username like sandiegolawyer007, this will turn out to look like this; http://www.flickr.com/people/sandiegolawyer007.

So now we have a optimized url.

Next, when it's time to pick a screen name, pick one that is similar to your key phrase. Use one to 3 words relating to your targeted keywords within your sreen name. This is important because this will be your title tag.

When you edit your profile first and last name, whatever you put here will show up right next to your Screen name. (Latent/Relevant content chance)

This is your chance to make a keyword rich page full of content relevant to your targeted keyword.

Flickr says "some html ok", so it's ok to give yourself a bold, italicized keyword anchor text link with keyword-rich surrounding content pointing back to your webpage relevant to your new Flickr profile.

But keep in mind, they do give you a chance to add you "Online bits" so you can add your website later if you don't want within the content.

Later down the page they have the "things you like", these sections allow some html also, so you could add more content if desired. I like to look at these pages like equivalents to my sub-pages and add deep links pointing to co-ordinating pages.

Just keep in mind that every box that is editable is SEOable.

Knowing Search Engine Robots' Names - Beneficial to SEO's?

I was thinking about creating separate optimized webpages for each search engine robot to crawl. Creating meta tags to direct each robot to only pages that are specially optimized for that bot seems like it can be a very benificial optimization technique.

Then I wondered if it's worth researching each search engine's algorithm and creating pages specially created for each of their robots. Not to mention that some of these engines probably don't get the traffic worth aiming for.

Seems like a lot of work... (or maybe not)

Does anyone know how else a SEO can benefit from knowing each robot's names?

Strange Google Placement - How to Rank in Local Business?

Hey,

I understand what is needed for a site to rank well organically and I also know how much money PPC can cost to get high rankings in the sponsored results.

But my question is; does anyone know how to get your site to rank number well in the local business results section?

I created local business ads in Google, but that seems like it just shows your PPC ads in the Google local business directory. I see sites that I work on ranking well in the local business section in some towns, but I could never understand what steps I actually have to take to get sites to rank in the local business results at the top of the page.

What brought this question to mind is I was checking out the Google Analytics keyword performance reports and noticed I was getting traffic for "land and home san diego". How the heck did this happen???????????

Not too long ago I wrote about how Little Lamb Land Preschool is falling short of Yahoo Locals & Citysearch on the SERP's.

I been asking around on what to do when you have a site with 12 pages competing against websites with well over 100,000 pages.

Well, I have a secret admirer that has been sending me tips on what I can do to improve the rankings. The funny thing is, this guy/girl wont give me another tip until I've completed the task he/she sent me prior.

And I know for certain my secret admirer checks out my site to make sure I completing this task.

The latest tip he sent me was to go to validator.w3.org and fix all my errors.

Just when I thought all I needed was to know some more seo secrets or search engine optimization tips to optimize my site, I realized I have a homepage with 52 errors and still haven't even completed the first major steps.

Measuring the Worth of Your Blog - Analytics Blog

Lately, I been paying close attention to how much time I invest into the Internet. All the time I spend on the Internet could be substituted with fitness activities, time with my girlfriend and friends, a paying pt-gig, etc. Currently, I am setting up routine tasks, measuring my profits and time and analyzing other variables to help me decide if pursuing personal Internet profits is worth my time.

This morning I decided that I was going to post a blog at least once a day. Didn't matter to me what I wrote about, just as long as I stayed consistent with my posting.

Coincidentally, I ran into Occam’s Razor by Avinash Kaushik a analytics blog. Author Avinash Kaushik writes about Blog Metric: Six Recommendations for Measuring Your Success.

For me, time is money.

Fixing the Bouce Rate & Average Time on Site

Earlier this year I created a website for my parents; Little Lamb Land Christian Preschool. It was a 5 page website with almost everything you needed to know on the homepage. A few months ago the site was a strong #2 behing local.yahoo.com childcare page for the term "Preschool in San Diego" or any variation thereof. Over the past 2 months LittleLambLand.org slowly fell to the 2nd page. Keep in mind, I didn't perform any seo techniques this whole time. I have recentlt heard that in order to rank well on Google, you have to start looking at other dynamics such as average time a visitor is your on site and the bounce rate.

So I went into my Google Analytics account and checked up on the site stats. The bounce rate during the fall of the site was at a whooping 81.66% with an average visitor time on site of 3 minutes and 33 seconds.
I reviewed my other sites and found most of them had a bounce rate of under 50% and and a average vistor time on site of over 10 minutes.

I spent one night analyzing why the site was doing so poorly. I thought, I am mentioning everything the visitor needs to know about the preschool on the homepage. Everything from a map of the school, program rates, preschool's goals and more. Their was really no need for the visitor to surf the site, unless the visitor was extremely interested or bored.

So I decided that I should break the homepage out into several different pages. This would give the visitor more reason to navigate to other pages resulting in a longer vistor time on this site. Then my girlfriend brought up a good point about my extremely high bounce rate. She said "maybe when peole come visit your site, they immediately leave because the preschool isn't in their area. Therefore, I decided to not make it so obvious where the preschool in located.

I added a Google interactive map to a new locations page. I gave the founders their own pages. I added an attractive link on the homepage to the website's new photo gallery. I even made a separate page for the days the school will be closed. It's almost neccessary to visit more pages throughout the site to find out if Little Lamb Land if the right preschool for the visitor.

After making these changes, LittleLambLand.org's bounce rate dropped down to 37.50% and the average time on site went up to 9:35. This was only a few days ago, but take that Google.

Now, if only I could think of a way to up local.yahoo...
This will be much tougher, with Yahoo being a site with almost every preschool listing in San Diego with reviews, maps, and more. And I'm sure the visitor time on site is killing 9:35. I visited, it deserves 1st place. But can a preschool website ever rank number one for the term preschool in san diego over Yahoo's preschool directory?

I been hearing a lot lately about StumbleUpon.com. It's a web 2.0 site where users are allowed to make friends like with myspace and bookmark websites like in Digg. It's good for traffic because you can get a ton of friends to check out your bookmarked pages. And it's good for SEO's because if you you can bookmark your site and get links from a major web 2.0 site.

I'm an SEO, but I recently got offered a job to rebuild a site for my client Miller's Carpet Care. I'm not a designer, nor do I fully understand HTML & CSS. But Bill was my SEO client and everyone knows content is key to great search engine rankings.

My job is to place Miller's Carpet Care on the top of Google for various keyword queries, such as "carpet care riverside". "san diego carpet care", "carpet cleaning san bernardino". This was my chance to build a very SEO friendly website.

I made sure I mentioned all the words through out the Title, Tags, Description & Content. Then I made sure every page had links pointing back to the home page with the keywords in the anchor text. Then I gave all the other pages some love by getting every other page to link to them with that page's keywords in those links.

By making sure your keywords are throughout the page, each page is getting a link with the keywords back to them & no broken links are in your domain, your site is ready for offpage optimization.

Just doing this got Miller's Website to the top 30 of anything relating to carpet in southern california.

Before, the problem was Google. You could get your site to rank number #1 on Yahoo & MSn without effort, but you could never find your site anywhere on Google. Well, that was because when we first optmized you site, you did the mete-tag, keywords, title, decription & content. THEN you started the link exchange. To search engines, blogs are the most important. The have great articles, lots of traffic, part of a large blog web, many authors and they can be updated very often.

Take for instance this blog. It is part of the big blog called 'Blogger'. Blogger is one of the only sites (the only one I know of) out their with a Google Page Rank of 10. type in 'links:www.blogger.com to see why it's obvious why they got that. Google PR is almost all based on link exhanging.

My title is blogoptimizer.blogspot.com, which is still under blogspot or Blogger. So, every link to me is also a link to blogger as a whole. Blogger has over a million pages with 31, 200,000 links pointing to it according to Yahoo. No site has more links than Blogger.com. Not even Google, Yahoo, MySpace or MSN

Now this is where search engines come in.

The truest way to get indexed in a search engine is to get 'spidered' through another site. Site submission is Bs aand can take weeks before your page gets spidered.
The fastest way to get indexed is to get links from high page rank websites. Because how often they get search the spiders will end up at your page. This is getting indexed.

Because of Blogger this is very easy. If you build a blog with about 4 post and a link to your webpage, with in 48 hours you will be indexed by Google. If you get a link from from a PR6 site, it can take about 4-7 days, a PR7 site will get you listed within 72 hours.

Almost everytime any keyword phrase is searched, Blogger is being spidered. Because some site out there (about 31 million ) is linking to blogger and when a spider finds a link to blogger, all pages get checked.

Now, everytime you post a blog, blogger puts you at the top of the 'most recent post' list. So you have a big advantage at being one of the ones on top if a phrase relavent to your site is typed in. But remember theirs over 1million blogs, most of the time you are only on top of the list for 1 minute. Their's also other list like 'Page Rank', 'Keyword Content', 'Amount of Links' and so on.

What I am trying to say is, the more often you write relavent content to keywords you want to rank high in, the better chance you have at getting visitors.

So go post something on your blog now. and again and again ....even if it's just 2 lines or Bs, you can always go back and edit it and be right back at the top again.

Today we are going to talk about keywords and how to choose them. No matter what the title of your blog is. Picking the right keywords can get you thousands of visitors. Inside your post try to say keyword phrases that probably get searched a lot.
But before you do that, you need to make sure that you're not picking phrases that another million sites are picking or real competitive sites got on lock.
Follow these steps to picking the best keywords for your blog.
1)Go to inventory.overture.com
2) Pick some keywords and record the amount of visitors type the phrases you picked in.
3)Go to Google.com and download the Google toolbar(make sure you pick advance settings)This will allow you to see the page rank of all the sites you surf.
4)Search the key terms you picked and check out the page ranks of the Top 10 sites.
5)Dont mess with the keywords that have websites with a lot of PR 6's and up. PR 6 and up sites have a ton of links and get a lot of traffic. Don't worry, we'll compete with them, but not just yet.
6)By now you should know what keywords you want to optimize and what sites you will be competing with.

To Google, it's 'change sparkplugs' Most likely the number 1 sites are sites selling sparkplus or sites explaining what spark plugs are. But to Ask Jeeves, the question stands and you will find article relating directly to 'how to change your spark plugs'

Althought Ask Jeeves is the best for surfers with questions, Google is best for webmasters to rank well in. Only because Google counts for 50% of all searches on the net.

If you're #1 in Google for a particukar keyword, chances are you are ranked in the top 5 of all search engines. So Google will still be our main focus.
